Work Placements & Trials

Our clients seek work of all varieties. The three most common are:

  • Office administration
  • Retail
  • General or semi-skilled

Other popular choices are Social Care, Trades, Finance, IT, Customer Service, and Hospitality.

We can arrange the following schemes:

SHORT WORK PLACEMENT SCHEME

  • Generic or basic skills level.
  • 2-3 weeks part or full-time unpaid.
  • Mental Health awareness training.
  • Mind CV & skills match.
  • Induction meeting with Mind, Line Manager and candidate involving objectives, support, advance directives, triggers, end of placement review scheduled, consent etc.
  • Weekly telephone review by Mind with candidate and then Line Manager.
  • End of placement interview with Mind, Line Manager and candidate.
  • (Mind support available to both candidate and Line Manager at all times).

LONG WORK PLACEMENT SCHEME

  • Generic or job specific.
  • 1-3 months part or full-time, although usually part-time unpaid.

This is the same process as short term scheme except:

  • Initiated by Mind with a candidate seeking a particular post.
  • Additional meeting or communication by Mind and Line Manager before starting process to define 'role description' (job spec) for placement.
  • If more than one month also have monthly review meetings with Mind, candidate and Line Manager.
  • Where a paid post is possible in this role clear objectives will be set before starting and if met the candidate will finish the placement by interviewing for the post as a paid job.

WORK -TRIAL SCHEME

  • Job specific.
  • 1 month unpaid work-trial.
  • Job interview.
  • Paid post.
  • Same contact and support from Mind as work placement schemes.

PLACEMENT & TRIAL SCHEMES AS A PILOT

  • These schemes can be viewed as a pilot to roll out mental health support to all employees.
  • They form the groundwork of raising awareness and expertise among supervisory and line management staff.
