Work Placements & Trials
Our clients seek work of all varieties. The three most common are:
- Office administration
- Retail
- General or semi-skilled
Other popular choices are Social Care, Trades, Finance, IT, Customer Service, and Hospitality.
We can arrange the following schemes:
SHORT WORK PLACEMENT SCHEME
- Generic or basic skills level.
- 2-3 weeks part or full-time unpaid.
- Mental Health awareness training.
- Mind CV & skills match.
- Induction meeting with Mind, Line Manager and candidate involving objectives, support, advance directives, triggers, end of placement review scheduled, consent etc.
- Weekly telephone review by Mind with candidate and then Line Manager.
- End of placement interview with Mind, Line Manager and candidate.
- (Mind support available to both candidate and Line Manager at all times).
LONG WORK PLACEMENT SCHEME
- Generic or job specific.
- 1-3 months part or full-time, although usually part-time unpaid.
This is the same process as short term scheme except:
- Initiated by Mind with a candidate seeking a particular post.
- Additional meeting or communication by Mind and Line Manager before starting process to define 'role description' (job spec) for placement.
- If more than one month also have monthly review meetings with Mind, candidate and Line Manager.
- Where a paid post is possible in this role clear objectives will be set before starting and if met the candidate will finish the placement by interviewing for the post as a paid job.
WORK -TRIAL SCHEME
- Job specific.
- 1 month unpaid work-trial.
- Job interview.
- Paid post.
- Same contact and support from Mind as work placement schemes.
PLACEMENT & TRIAL SCHEMES AS A PILOT
- These schemes can be viewed as a pilot to roll out mental health support to all employees.
- They form the groundwork of raising awareness and expertise among supervisory and line management staff.
