education & employment

Getting back into work or education can be hard work. It may mean making changes to your lifestyle. There are many reasons why people feel nervous about going back to work, or starting education again. This is why we are here - to support people and help them to achieve their goals. City and Hackney Mind have been assisting people back into education and the workforce for more than 20 years. There is currently a huge gap in mainstream service provision to meet the needs of people with mental health problems. At the same time there are local and neighbouring employers who have jobs but can't find people to fill them. We work with range of established networks - Disability Employment Advisors and other staff from Job Centres across East London and the City, Psychiatric wards at Homerton Hospital, local GPs, other charitable or voluntary organisations, Local Mental Health Teams, Assertive Outreach and Early Intervention teams, and Hackney Community College. Our projects are supported by a range of funders, who enable us to provide free support to people who really need it. Twice a week there is a Job Club facility at Tudor Road where all are welcome to attend and be involved in. We run Literacy, Numeracy, ESOL and Information Technology courses at Tudor Road. For further information please see below. If you wish to make an application or refer an individual to the Education & Employment Service, please download a referral form here, complete and return it to City and Hackney MIND, Education and Employment Service, 8-10 Tudor Road, London, E9 7SN.
