IT Training - Advanced
CLAIT plus: This course is for more advanced level learners
This course is a level 2 course.
The course aims to:
- Help students further develop their ICT skills in Integrated e-Document Production, e-Image Manipulation and Electronic Communication, e-presentation design and create and use a database.
This course leads to OCR 's Level II Certificate for IT users (CLAIT Plus).
By the end of the course students will be able to:
1. Use Windows XP Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel to:
- Become familiar with some of the more advanced features of Microsoft Word
- Access, open, save, and password protect files
- Create and print mail merge documents and use mail merge queries
- Integrate files to create an integrated business document
- Insert and format tabular data
- Enter data accurately and amend existing data
- Format page layout and manipulate text according to a house style sheet
- Create and print an integrated document, combining text, tabular data, images and graphs
2. Use Paint Shop Pro to:
- Become familiar with Corel Paint Shop Pro and Animation Shop
- Create artwork incorporating text and images in layers
- Edit and retouch images
- Use a variety of graphic effects
- Create animated images for electronic media
- Prepare artwork for print/electronic publishing
3. Use Microsoft Outlook to:
- Become familiar with Microsoft Outlook
- Use advanced e-mail facilities to co-ordinate email communications
- Create distribution lists and use an address book
- Manage a mailbox by creating folders and moving messages between folders
4. Use Microsoft Access to:
- Create a new database table
- Amend a database table
- Add records
- Edit records
- Use find and replace to amend text
- Delete records
- Produce complex queries
- Produce queries including calculation fields
- Create reports using report wizard
- Create tabular and columnar reports
- Use summary fields in reports
- Format reports
- Print reports in different orientation
5. Use Microsoft Publisher to:
- Create page layout
- Create master pages
- Insert columns
- Insert text boxes
- Link text boxes
- Create headers and footers
- Align text
- Save publication
- Inserting text and image files
- Define and apply styles
- Print publication
- Rotate and flip text
- Use word art
- Create templates
- Print templates
- Group and ungroup objects and text
- Apply lines, boxes and border
- Apply drop capitals
- Produce colour separations using spot colours
- Print crop, registration and bleed marks
6. Use Microsoft PowerPoint to:
- Create master slides
- Insert headers and footers
- Apply an image as a background
- Produce tables
- Insert tabs including decimal tabs
- Import a csv (comma separator variable) file
- Apply borders and gridlines
- Apply shadings
- Merge table cell
- Copy and paste text to slides
- Use autoshapes to produce basic shapes
- Print as handouts
- Hide and reveal slide
- Apply transitions, build effect and animations
- Produce charts and graphs
- Create and apply hyperlinks
- Produce screen prints to show evidence
- Produce organisation charts
- Display and print speaker notes
- Use pack and go feature to save as non-powerpoint presentation
- Save presentation as a powerpoint show to view in non-powerpoint viewer
