Background

City and Hackney Mind Counselling and Psychotherapy service offers an integrative service for the multicultural and diverse communities in Hackney and for people who traditionally have difficulties accessing counselling and psychotherapy services.

Why you might seek counselling and psychotherapy

  • Relationship problems with partners, children, parents or relatives.
  • Abuse: sexual, physical and emotional
  • Bereavement: recent or past
  • Depression
  • Stress and anxiety
  • Loneliness & Isolation

How Counselling and Psychotherapy can help you

Counselling and Psychotherapy can offer you:

  • The opportunity to share your thoughts and feelings with experienced and qualified professionals.
  • Help to gain insights into your emotional and psychological difficulties and be supported in identifying the choices available to you.
  • Help to express your emotional feelings. This will enable you to reduce or avoid the stresses that cause emotional and mental distress in the future.
  • Help to understand yourself better and learn skills that will help you take responsibility for your own life, choices and decisions.
  • Support to develop your confidence and self-esteem.

The aim of the Counselling and Psychotherapy service is to:

  • Provide a service that is culturally and linguistically appropriate. We provide a Turkish service and a limited service is provided in the following languages: French, Spanish, Turkish, Polish, Amharic, Farsi and Portuguese.
  • Enable clients experiencing emotional distress to gain insight understand the cause of the distress and to develop coping skills.

Making a Referral

You can refer yourself to the service.

Otherwise we accept referrals from:

GP’s, Psychiatrists, Social Workers, Probation Officers and other Statutory Agencies and Voluntary Organisations.

All referred clients will be offered an initial assessment meeting  to assess and examine the main issues of concern

The initial meeting  will enable us to establish the most appropriate counselling or psychotherapy service to offer. Or help us to recommend another more appropriate service outside of City and Hackney Mind

Telephone: The telephone lines will be open on Monday, Wednesday & Friday from 10am-12pm and Tuesday from 6pm-7pm for Referrals and Enquiries on 020 8525 2329 or 0800 612-6585. Any calls received outside of this time will be returned within 48 hours.
